Cypress is naturally rot resistant making this beveled product ideal as an exterior siding.  It also works great for interior walls like in a man cave, game room, camp house, or a rustic great room.  This 1×8 Beveled does not have the rabbited groove normally found on the thicker, pricier 5/4 version.

Goes by lots of names:  Dutchlap, Germanlap, Cove Siding, Novelty Siding, and more.  The official name in the Southern Pine Pattern book is pattern #105.  For decades it was the most common siding found on houses in the US.  It’s normally installed untreated then painted.  These days most people use it restoring old houses.  There’s even a trend to install it on the interior as an accent wall.
